Moreover, WhatsApp has added a new shortcut to reply to chat.
WhatsApp adds new features
Through a blog post on Tuesday, WhatsApp announced its updates and new features for 2025. The popular messaging platform now allows you to add 30 filters and background effects to your photos and videos.
The filters and backgrounds feature for WhatsApp video calls was announced in October last year, and now it has been expanded to include the WhatsApp camera. These filters can adjust color or change backgrounds. WhatsApp’s main competitor in the messaging space, Snapchat, already offers this feature.
Secondly, WhatsApp users can now directly convert their personal photos into a sticker by clicking on attached code. You can tap on “Create Sticker” and you will see the camera option to instantly click a selfie and create your own sticker. The selfie stickers feature is currently only available on WhatsApp for Android and will definitely be coming to iOS soon.
Furthermore, WhatsApp is adding a way to share sticker packs directly in chats. Finally, WhatsApp is adding a new way to reply to a message by double-tapping it and quickly swiping through the most frequently used reactions. This is a simplified user interface instead of the existing tap and hold method of responding to chat.
